KOMOREBI

Komorebi (木漏れ日) — the Japanese word composed of the kanji for “tree” (木) and “to escape / let through” (漏れ) is the source of inspiration for this series.

Komorebi is inspired by fleeting natural phenomena. Moments that appear only briefly, and fascinate precisely because of their transience: sunlight filtering through the leaves of trees, creating a dancing play of light and shadow; a shadow gliding across the surface of the sand; a colored trail left behind after a tropical rain.

These are ephemeral traces and imprints, shaped by nature. In Komorebi, I transpose them so that their beauty and strength can endure. Traces that are visible only briefly, that move with the wind, fade softly through water, and eventually disappear.
